Meatboy Birthday Cake, Cookies, & More...
For my husband's birthday I thought I'd make a theme from one of his video games. I choose one of my husbands favorite games Super Meatboy. This game has everything; amazing music, difficult levels, and even a love story. Awh.
~
Wait...you don't know who Meatboy is!

Seriously Forest Funk is genius! I'd be baking and listening to Betus Blues while Andy would be on a certain level, and I would not want him to beat the level or move on because I liked the music so much. lol. (Super Meatboy composer Danny B. Hearts!)
Ok so now you know how awesome Super Meatboy is-if you didn't already.
So onto the cake!
Now I'm not much for cake decorating, but I tried my best on this two tier Meatboy cake.
The lower level was double fudge cake mixed with butter so it would be super moist. The upper tier was a red velvet cake made with butter so it was super moist. This also means...it was horrible to work with, but it was worth it for the taste.
The finale to this super moist cake...made from scratch vanilla cream cheese frosting.
My husband loved it! Which was kinda the piont so I felt great.
The cake next to some Meatboy decorations I made and the Meatboy painting I made for my husband.

It's All In the Dough
Or the crust as this case may be.
As my test kitchen is deconstructing a lemon bar recipe I couldn't help but think how important a basic crust or dough recipe is.

Roast Dinner
We wanted something healthy, and delicious for dinner.
I added salt and pepper to it before baking it to give it some flavor.
Best part is my husband figured out how to set the oven to turn on and off automatically.
Now we can have dinner done before we even get home.
Isn't technology wonderful!

Stuffed Mushrooms & Peppers
What to do with a spare roast taking up room in the freezer?
How about make stuffed mushrooms and peppers with it!
~
The night before I baked the roast slowly in chicken broth, and used a few simple spices to bring out the flavor. My husband could not stop sampling the meat once it was done.
To me that means it is good. lol. ;)
The next night we pulled the roast by hand, and then added shredded carrots, cauliflower, and pieces of mushrooms to the mixture.
Here are our peppers and mushrooms ready to be stuffed.
All ready to go into the oven.
~
45 minutes later...
The stuffed portobello mushrooms were my favorite!
I loved eating the peppers with the meat.
I think we will have to make this again! :)

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies
A long time ago there was a little country girl who loved to bake.
She would make cakes, pies, and cookies.
Her favorite cookie to make was peanut butter chocolate chip.
Alas, the young girl grew up and lost her favorite recipe...
Eeek! That's right as you may have guessed, I am the country girl with the lost recipe, but it is not lost anymore!
Oh I love these cookies!
They are soft, but still have that peanut butter cookie taste that falls apart in your mouth.
Add chocolate chips and I'm in heaven.
Of course I plan to sell these along with my other goodies on etsy-eventually.
For now those who know me can pre-order a batch here and there.
